Labiaplasty is an aesthetic surgery for the female genitalia and involves the surgical reduction of the labia due to excess length. Patients usually request this surgery to reduce the length of the labia because either it is causing them to experience discomfort, or they are simply not happy with the way their labia looks and are self-conscious. Some women are born this way whereas others develop the problem as they age. Candidates for this procedure usually exhibit signs or symptoms such as: long vaginal lips; labial discomfort, pain, or irritation- particularly while wearing tight clothing; embarrassment during intimacy. The procedure may be done in an operating room or if chosen, can be performed safely in the office with local anesthetic.
Although this may be a sensitive and embarrassing topic to many women, Dr. DeRosa will make sure you feel comfortable during your consultation and assured that you have made the right decision to get it corrected.
